Jessie banks is recognized as the most influential person in the creation of women's athletics at csu-pueblo (then known as the university of southern colorado). She also played and important role in the expansion of the women's sports programs at csu-pueblo the award recognizes the school's top female scholar-athlete. She arrived at the school in 1966, and became the first ever coach in women's basketball and volleyball at csu-pueblo.

Went to central oklahoma state, graduating in 1962.played field hockey, volleyball, basketball, softball, badminton and golf for four years (1958-62). Banks played for the all-american red heads basketball team for five years following high school before coming to central, where she was a multi-sport standout from 1959-62. Jessie coached the girls basketball team at mcguinness high school in oklahoma city for two years while still attending uco and had two other coaching positions before beginning a 30-year teacher and coaching career at Jassie banks is on facebook.
